Terri Carroll, September 2012 Student of the Month
Maitri~ Tell us a little about yourself Terri.
Terri~ I grew up in New York and got my undergraduate degree in English/education in Connecticut. I moved to Colorado in 1977, had two lovely daughters, got a Master’s degree in counseling, enjoyed a teaching and counseling career, and am now retired!
Maitri~ What originally drew you to your yoga practice?
Terri~ I had “done” yoga before, but have only really “practiced” it since I joined Maitri in January. It started out as a way to get in shape. I never thought I’d enjoy it as much as I now do. It’s hard to go through a day without stretching (both body and mind). I look forward to seeing my “new friends” every day. I feel like part of a community.
Maitri~ If you could share anything with a non-practitioner, what would it be?
Terri~ If there were one thing I would suggest to a non practitioner, it would be to not be afraid to try yoga. Yoga can give you confidence, especially when you master a position that you could never have imagined doing. That could be a life lesson in itself!
Maitri~ Just for giggles, what is your favorite asana posture? Least favorite?
Terri~ My favorite asana practice is holding difficult poses, ones that don’t involve balancing on one leg!!!
Maitri ~ Thank you Terri for being a part of our community. You always have a smile on your face and are willing to try just about anything! We really love having you around. Lots of love to you!
