Insect Repellent Spray Recipe

I love being outside in the summer – camping, hiking, picnicking, barbecues… except for those pesky blood sucking bugs.  Their bits itch for days and sometimes weeks! I really don’t like putting chemicals on myself or my family so I found a natural bug spray that is easy to make!  This spray contains catnip hydrosol which can be just as effective as the commercial chemical repellents, without the nasty side effects from toxins like DEET.  Plus this spray smells great!

Ingredients

8 oz organic catnip hydrosol
20 drops cedarwood essential oil
20 drops lavender essential oil
10 drops lemongrass essential oil
10 drops lemon essential oil

Directions

Slowly drip each essential oil into the hydrosol, counting with care as you go. Mix all ingredients in the bottle by shaking vigorously. Shake well before each use and reapply as often as needed.
